ELIGIBILITY

The applicant's efforts must be implemented within the state of Alabama, but the organization may have affiliates, divisions, or headquarters in other states.

Previous winners of the Alabama Excellence Award (the highest level of recognition) are eligible to reapply three years after being named an Award winner. In the meantime, they may apply for the Award of Excellence in Continuous Productivity and Quality Improvement each year until they are once again eligible to reapply for the Alabama Quality Award.

Eligibility Determination

To ensure that Award recipients meet all reasonable requirements and expectations in representing the Award throughout the State of Alabama, potential applicants must have their eligibility approved prior to applying for the Award.

Potential applicants for the 2008 Award are encouraged to submit their Pre-Application/Eligibility Determination Form as early as possible, but no later than February 29, 2008. This form is found in the back of the 2008 Alabama Quality Award Application Guideline Booklet.

Levels of Application

Level 1

Commitment to Excellence - This level is for organizations that have made a serious commitment to use and implement performance excellence concepts and principles.

Level 2

Progress Toward Excellence - This level is for organizations that have demonstrated sustained commitment to and application of performance excellence principles and practices. They have made progress in building sound and notable systematic processes that have improved results in key portions of the organization.

Level 3

Alabama Excellence Award - This highest level of recognition is presented to organizations that have demonstrated through their practices and achievements sustained performance excellence.

Award of Excellence for
Continuous Productivity
and Quality Improvement - Applicants (previous winners) may apply for this award during the three year period they are not eligible to re-apply for the Alabama Quality Award.
